Barcelona wall art is built almost entirely from the work of one architect, Antoni Gaudí, whose Sagrada Família basilica and Park Güell mosaics supply more pieces than any other subject. Montjuïc hill's Palau Nacional and fountains, the harbor at Port Vell, and Barceloneta beach fill out the range around them.
Antoni Gaudí worked in Barcelona through the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, and his buildings appear here more often than any historic square or beach. The Sagrada Família and Park Güell together account for well over a dozen distinct titles, photographed at dusk, at night and in daylight, which makes his style the closest thing this collection has to a single unifying subject.
The basilica appears whole, in close spire detail, and reflected at twilight, in horizontal, vertical and panoramic formats. Construction on it began in 1882 and is still not finished, funded entirely by admission tickets and donations, which is part of why photographers keep returning to it: the building itself has changed within living memory and continues to.
Montjuïc is a hill overlooking the harbor that carries the Palau Nacional, now home to the National Museum of Catalonia, alongside the Magic Fountain that performs choreographed light and water shows after dark. Pieces from Montjuïc tend to be the most brightly lit in the range, since the fountain and the illuminated palace facade are usually the subject rather than daylight architecture.
The square sits at the base of Montjuïc and appears here under several spellings, always framed toward the domed museum building or the fountains in front of it. Evening and night versions dominate, since the square's own lighting and the fountain shows behind it are what make the scene worth photographing after dark.
Only a handful of pieces here show Barceloneta or the general beachfront, usually at sunrise, and they carry none of the gold and stone tones that dominate the rest of the collection. They are the softest, palest pieces in the range and the ones most likely to suit a bedroom rather than a study or living room.
The Sagrada Família's vertical pieces are built for height rather than width, which makes them a natural fit above a stairwell or in a narrow gap between two windows. The wider skyline and harbor pieces need the opposite treatment, roughly two thirds of the furniture width below them, since their subject is a horizon rather than a single tower.
Port Vell, the old harbor, and the wider Barcelona skyline both appear here mostly after dark, with yacht lights and building illumination doing most of the work. A daylight harbor piece would show mostly grey water and moored boats, so the choice to shoot at night is what gives these scenes their color.
The panoramic pieces carry the widest harbor and cathedral views, useful above a long sofa or sideboard where a standard horizontal canvas would look undersized. The vertical format is reserved for the Sagrada Família's spires and facade detail, and a multi panel layout is not part of this range at all.
For the wider country see Spain wall art, for skylines and harbors from other cities see city wall art, and for fountain photography beyond Montjuïc see fountain wall art.
Every canvas here is made to order on museum quality material, using archival inks that resist fading, stretched over a solid wooden frame so it arrives ready to hang, with shipping included.
The Sagrada Família basilica in several formats, Park Güell's mosaic work, the Palau Nacional and Magic Fountain on Montjuïc hill, Plaça d'Espanya, the harbor at Port Vell, and a small number of Barceloneta beach scenes.
No. Construction began in 1882 under Antoni Gaudí and continues today, funded by admission tickets and donations rather than public money. Several pieces here show the building as it currently stands, not as a completed structure.
The Palau Nacional, which now houses the National Museum of Catalonia, and the Magic Fountain in front of it, known for choreographed light and water shows after dark. Both appear here mostly in evening light.
Warm gold and amber from the night architecture and fountain lighting, with the small beach selection offering a paler, cooler alternative. Choose the beach pieces for a room that needs calm rather than drama.
A vertical canvas, since the subject is height rather than width. The basilica is also offered as a full horizontal view and a wide panoramic twilight shot, depending on whether the goal is the whole building or just the spires.
