Texas wall art splits across four cities rather than favoring one. San Antonio carries the Alamo and its river missions, Austin brings the state capitol and a countryside grotto, Dallas supplies a skyline tower, and Houston appears once at its own city hall.
The former Spanish mission known as the Alamo was the site of the 1836 battle that became a rallying point for Texas independence, and it remains the most recognized single building in the state. The prints here show it at golden hour and at standard daylight, and both stick to the mission facade itself rather than the surrounding plaza.
The Alamo is one of five Spanish colonial missions strung along the San Antonio River, together designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and this range also includes a separate mission print at twilight. The Tower of the Americas, a 750 foot observation tower built for the 1968 World's Fair, supplies a different kind of San Antonio picture entirely, closer to a modern skyline shot than to colonial history.
Dallas appears here mostly as a downtown skyline at sunrise, sunset or night, usually anchored by Reunion Tower, the geodesic sphere on a tall pylon that has marked the city's skyline since 1978. Several versions are lit from within after dark, which is the detail that tells a Dallas shot apart from a similarly toned skyline elsewhere in this range.
West of Austin, Hamilton Pool Preserve is a natural swimming hole formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed, leaving a grotto with a waterfall that depends on recent rainfall. It is the only natural landscape subject in this otherwise city heavy range, and it reads as a Texas Hill Country picture rather than a Texas skyline one.
The Texas State Capitol in Austin is built from pink granite and stands taller than the United States Capitol in Washington. The prints here include a straight facade view and a wider shot of the dome above its surrounding gardens, alongside a separate skyline print taken over Lady Bird Lake, the reservoir that runs through downtown Austin.
Houston's contribution to this range is its Art Deco city hall, shown with its reflecting pool in front, rather than the city's better known skyline of glass towers. It stands apart from the rest of the range as the one purely civic architecture subject with no skyline or river attached.
Several prints here are the Texas flag rather than a place at all, shown against a cracked or weathered texture, folded fabric, or laid over brick. These are bought for state pride or as a gift more often than as scenery, and they sit apart in mood from the skyline and landscape pieces around them.
Alongside the flag prints, one piece shows the state's outline with a lone star marked inside it, closer to a graphic design than to any of the flag textures. It suits the same office or den setting as the flag pieces, and pairs more naturally with them than with a skyline or landscape shot from elsewhere in the range.
Each canvas in this range is printed to order on museum quality material with archival inks that resist fading, stretched over a solid wooden inner frame, and shipped ready to hang, with free shipping.
Four cities: San Antonio with the Alamo and its missions, Austin with the state capitol and Hamilton Pool, Dallas with its Reunion Tower skyline, and Houston at its own city hall. A handful of Texas flag pieces round out the range.
No. The Alamo is one of five missions along the San Antonio River that together form a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and this range includes at least one other mission print alongside it.
A natural swimming hole west of Austin, formed when the dome of an underground river collapsed to leave a grotto and a seasonal waterfall. It is the one natural landscape subject in an otherwise city focused range.
Take roughly two thirds of the width of the furniture below the wall, and lean toward a horizontal or panoramic crop, since the skyline and Reunion Tower read as a wide subject rather than a tall one.
A living room or entry suits the skyline and capitol pictures well, while the flag pieces fit an office or den more naturally, since they read as identity pieces rather than scenery.
