Tuscany Wall Art

Tuscany Wall Art

Tuscany wall art is countryside first and cities second. Rolling hills, cypress rows and vineyards around San Gimignano make up most of the range, with Florence and Pisa supplying the two landmark buildings that round it out.

The Rolling Hills Are Named Crete Senesi

South of Siena, the clay hills known as Crete Senesi are paler and more sculpted than a typical green countryside, almost bare of trees in places, and several prints here catch them at golden hour when the low light exaggerates their folds. Nearby San Quirico d'Orcia supplies a softer, greener version of the same rolling terrain.

Cypress Rows Line The Roads, Not The Fields

The tall dark cypress trees that appear throughout this range are planted in narrow lines along farm roads and driveways rather than scattered through open fields, which is why they read as vertical accents against a wide horizontal landscape. A wheat field print elsewhere in the range shows the open ground these cypress lined roads cut across.

San Gimignano Adds Medieval Towers To The Vineyards

The walled hill town of San Gimignano still carries a cluster of medieval stone towers, down from dozens in its original state to a much smaller number standing today, and the surrounding hillsides are planted with the vineyards that produce the area's white wine. The print here sets the town against its own vineyards rather than isolating the towers alone.

Florence Contributes The Arno And Two Landmarks

Florence enters this range through the Arno river itself, shot at dusk from the embankment, and two specific buildings: the Palazzo Vecchio, the fortress like town hall in the city's main square, and the Ponte Vecchio, the shop lined medieval bridge that survived the destruction of the city's other bridges in the Second World War. Both are shown at sunset, which keeps the palette consistent with the countryside pieces around them.

Pisa's Tower Leans In Every Version

The print showing Pisa's Piazza dei Miracoli includes the Leaning Tower alongside the cathedral behind it, and the tilt itself, caused by unstable ground beneath the foundation, is the detail that makes the building recognizable from a single frame. It is the only subject in this range that sits outside the Siena and Florence area.

Sunrise And Sunset Dominate The Palette

Almost nothing in this collection is shot at midday. Gold, amber and soft pink run through the hillside pictures at both ends of the day, and the Florence and San Gimignano prints follow the same timing, which keeps the whole range close in tone even across different subjects.

A Wheat Field Breaks Up The Hillside Repetition

Most of this range is rolling terrain shot from a distance, but one print pulls in closer on a single wheat field, with the crop itself rather than the horizon as the subject. It works as a change of pace hung beside the wider Crete Senesi views, since the closer framing gives the eye somewhere different to land without leaving the same warm palette.

The Wide Hillside Views Suit A Long Wall

A landscape built from rolling hills or a line of cypress trees is a wide subject, so a panoramic or wide horizontal canvas carries it better than a square crop, and several of the strongest countryside pieces here are built as panoramics for that reason. The Florence and Pisa landmark shots hold up at a more standard rectangle, since each is centered on a single building.

How Each Canvas Is Made

Each print here is made to order on museum quality canvas with archival inks that resist fading, then stretched over a solid wooden inner frame and shipped ready to hang, with free shipping.

Common Questions

What does Tuscany wall art usually show?

Mostly countryside: the clay hills of Crete Senesi, cypress lined roads and the vineyards around San Gimignano. Florence and Pisa each contribute one or two landmark buildings.

What is Crete Senesi?

An area of pale clay hills south of Siena, almost bare of trees in places and known for its sculpted, folded terrain. It is the source of most of the rolling hill pictures in this range.

Which Florence landmarks appear here?

The Palazzo Vecchio, the fortress like town hall in the city's main square, and the Ponte Vecchio, the shop lined bridge over the Arno. Both are shown at sunset, along with a separate view of the river itself.

What size suits a Tuscan hillside print?

Take about two thirds of the width of the furniture below the wall, and choose a wide horizontal or panoramic crop, since the hills and cypress rows read as a broad landscape rather than a single close subject.

Which room suits a Tuscany canvas?

A living room or dining room with warm tones gains the most, since gold and amber run through nearly every piece in this range. The Florence and Pisa landmark shots work equally well in a study or hallway, and the closer wheat field print suits a smaller wall where a wide hillside view would feel out of scale.
