Venice wall art brings the lagoon city onto your wall: gondolas on the Grand Canal, the Rialto Bridge lit at night, the domes of Santa Maria della Salute at dusk, and the painted houses of Burano. This collection gathers Venice canvas prints as oil paintings, watercolor and sketch studies, and photographs, in single canvases, multi-panel sets and wide panoramic formats. Every piece is printed to order on museum-quality canvas with archival inks that resist fading. The light changes from piece to piece, from warm sunset to quiet daylight, but the subject stays the same: water, old stone and reflected light.
This page holds canvas wall art of Venice, Italy, the island city in the Adriatic lagoon. Venice Beach in California is a different place and is not part of it. The pieces fall into a few clear groups: Grand Canal views, gondola scenes, landmark views of Santa Maria della Salute, San Giorgio Maggiore, St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, and the lagoon island of Burano. Within those groups you will find sunrise, daylight, golden hour, dusk and night versions of the same views, so you can pick the light before you pick the place.
The Grand Canal is the most common subject, and it appears from many angles. Some pieces look down the water toward Santa Maria della Salute, with its pale dome at the end of the channel. Others hold the Rialto Bridge in the middle of the frame, in daylight or lit up after dark. Gondola pieces range from a single boat on the water, such as Gondola on Canal Grande at Sunset, to the crowd of boats in Venice Regata Storica Gondolas. San Giorgio Maggiore, the island church across the water from St Mark's, shows up as silhouettes, sunset views and night scenes. San Marco Square and Il Redentore Church give you stonework and open piazza instead of water. Smaller details exist too, such as Venetian Gothic Tower Facade and Venetian Canal with Bell Tower.
Many Venice pieces sit in a warm palette. Sunset and golden hour scenes pair apricot skies with amber water and dark gondola silhouettes. Dusk and night pieces, including Venice Grand Canal at Night and Rialto Bridge at Night, shift to deep blue with points of gold from lamps and windows. Daylight pieces are cooler and show more of the stonework. Burano Canal with Colorful Houses and Burano Island in the Venetian Lagoon are the exception: blocks of saturated house color that suit a room ready for strong color. If you want something quieter, Sunrise Over Venice Canals and Venice in Daylight stay soft and pale.
Venice is a subject that artists painted long before cameras existed, and the collection reflects that. Venetian Gondolas Oil Painting and Venice Canal Gondola Painting read as traditional oil scenes. San Marco Square Church, Venice Painterly Study and Venice Sunset Gondola Impression lean toward loose, impressionist handling. Watercolor Canal in Venice Italy and Venice Canal Pencil Sketch with Gondoliers are lighter and more graphic, closer to a drawing than a painting. Picturesque Venice Canal with Vintage Style has an aged, nostalgic look. The rest are photographic and read as a real place, with sharper detail and more contrast. A painted Venice softens a room. A photographic Venice makes the room feel like it has a view. For more painted work across other subjects, see our oil painting canvas art.
Match the width of the piece to the wall, not to the room. Over a sofa, bed or sideboard, aim for roughly two thirds of the furniture's width, and leave six to eight inches of wall between the furniture and the canvas. A 36 inch sofa-back table suits a piece about 24 inches wide, and a 90 inch sofa suits one near 60 inches wide. Horizontal single canvases in this collection start at 24 by 16 inches and reach 48 by 32 inches, and vertical ones run from 12 by 24 to 30 by 60 inches, so there is a size for a narrow hallway and a size for a full living room wall. Hang the center of the artwork roughly 57 to 60 inches from the floor.
A canal is a long, receding view, so Venice works well wide. Many pieces here are panoramic, offered as a single canvas or a set of three panels, in sizes from 25 by 8 inches up to 73 by 24 inches. A single panoramic canvas reaches 60 by 20 inches. Panoramic Grand Canal and Santa Maria della Salute scenes are the natural fit, because the buildings on both banks stay in frame. Other pieces come as sets of three, four or five panels, and one group offers a square grid of four panels from 17 by 17 inches to 63 by 63 inches. If you want a wide format across many subjects, our panoramic wall art has the full range.
In a living room, a wide Grand Canal piece above the sofa is the strongest placement, and a panoramic or multi-panel set can fill a long wall without a gallery of small frames. A dining room suits a Venice dusk scene, since warm light on water sits well with candles and wood. In a bedroom, choose a sunrise or a soft painted view, something with low contrast, above the headboard. A hallway handles the narrower pieces, such as the vertical Gondolier Silhouette at Golden Sunset or St Mark's Square, Venice in a tall format. In a home office, a daylight canal or a pencil sketch keeps the wall calm and a little graphic.
The first mistake is buying vertical for a canal view. A canal runs away from you, so a tall crop cuts off the buildings that give the picture its depth. Most Venice scenes are better wide. The second is choosing by landmark and ignoring the light: a dusk Rialto Bridge and a daylight Rialto Bridge are different rooms, one warm and one cool. The third is hanging too small. A 24 by 16 inch piece over a three seat sofa looks lost, and the two thirds rule fixes it. The fourth is matching a busy Burano scene to a room that is already full of pattern. Let a strong color piece be the one loud thing in the room.
Venice sits inside a wider Italian and Mediterranean theme. Our Italy wall art places it next to Florence, Tuscany and the Amalfi Coast, and our Mediterranean wall art carries the same warm palette around the sea. For the glowing look of the dusk pieces, see sunset wall art. If the Rialto Bridge is the part you love, our bridge wall art gathers more crossings. For the thinking behind why this subject wants a wide canvas, read Venice Wall Art: Why the Canal Needs Width.
Each Venice canvas is printed to order on museum-quality canvas with a matte canvas finish as standard. Archival inks resist fading, and the print is stretched over a solid wooden inner frame, so it arrives ready to hang. Shipping is free, and 30-day returns apply. Because every piece is made after you order, the size and layout you choose is the one that gets printed, whether that is a single canvas, a set of three or five panels, or a panoramic format.
It is Venice, Italy. The collection holds the lagoon city: the Grand Canal, gondolas, Rialto Bridge, St Mark's Square, San Giorgio Maggiore and Burano. Venice Beach in California is a separate subject and is not included.
Horizontal, and often panoramic. A canal view recedes into the distance and needs the buildings on both sides to hold its depth. Vertical Venice pieces exist, mainly of towers, St Mark's Square and a gondolier silhouette, and they suit narrow walls and hallways.
Yes. It includes oil painting scenes, painterly and impressionist studies, a watercolor canal and a pencil sketch with gondoliers, alongside photographic views. Painted pieces read softer and more decorative, and photographic pieces read sharper and more like a real place.
Span about two thirds of the sofa's width and leave six to eight inches above it. For a standard sofa that usually means a canvas between 48 and 60 inches wide, so a panoramic piece or a multi-panel set works better than a small single canvas.
The Burano pieces, such as Burano Canal with Colorful Houses and Burano Island in Sunny Venice. They show the lagoon island's brightly painted houses. The sunset and golden hour scenes are warm but more restrained.
